This engine is an Inline 4 design with 1.8L displacement and a bore x stroke of 81 x 88.9mm (3.19 x 3.5in). It uses Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI), a compression ratio of 10.0:1, and runs on regular unleaded fuel with a minimum pump octane of 87 and a maximum ethanol blend of 10%. Full throttle RPM range is 5,000–6,000 RPM, intake is 16-valve, and the engine carries a C.A.R.B. 3-Star emissions rating.
Yamaha VF90 Electrical, Ignition, and Lubrication
Ignition is handled by a TCI microcomputer system with an LFR5A-11 spark plug, and starting is electric with power trim and tilt (PTT). The alternator delivers 35 amp output at wide-open throttle.
